The Digital Communications and Customer Engagement (DCCE) module has been one of the most practical parts of my Business and HR programme at Griffith College Dublin. Before starting, I saw digital marketing as something separate from Human Resources, but this course helped me realise how closely connected they are especially in modern, people focused organisations.
We covered a wide range of topics, from web design, SEO, and content marketing to analytics tools, social media engagement, and digital strategy. Building my own website and writing blog content showed me how vital digital presence and communication are not just for businesses but also for professionals like HR consultants.
As someone with a goal of working in HR consulting and workplace investigations, this module helped me understand how important it is to create strong internal communications, use data to guide decisions, and present information clearly online. For example, tools like Google Analytics or LinkedIn Insights can help track employee engagement, just like they do with customer behaviour. This data-driven approach to HR is something I now feel much more confident embracing.
The AI-generated insights I explored using ChatGPT reinforced the idea that employees are internal customers. The same engagement principles used in digital marketing personalisation, clear messaging, and active feedback can be applied to the employee experience. As someone from a non-traditional HR background, this approach really resonated with me.
Overall, this module didn’t just teach me about digital tools it helped me see how digital communications are a key part of building trust, improving culture, and providing meaningful support within organisations. These are skills I will carry into every HR role I take on in the future.
